COLLECTIONS
F/W 21/22:
Ad Astra per Aspera
This collection is my love letter to Kansas and my life growing up on the family farm, a place that will always be my home. The family farm holds a special place in my heart, as I am the 5th generation to grow up in the small and humble white house that stands atop the hill overlooking the rest of the farm. This house is like a quilt, built by the hands of my ancestors to provide not only shelter but a place of comfort. Quilts also have a rich history in the culture of rural Kansas and tell the stories of the people who came before us.

F/W 20/21: The Pearl
The inspiration for the collection was drawn from the works of Dutch Baroque painter, Johannes Vermeer. The painting that inspired the designs the most was
Girl with a Pearl Earring
. In this painting, it was created using many layers of paint to create a completed work of art. Thus with this collection, I wanted to showcase layered looks that can then create multiple different looks.

F/W 19/20: L'inverno
The inspiration for the collection was drawn from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Winter. He used classical stylings and made them modern. At his time, Vivaldi would have poems read aloud with each "season", while the song was being played. By doing this, Vivaldi was generations ahead of his time. The music creates a sense of drama and peace depending on what movement you are listening to.

The collection focuses on how the body reacts to pressure, whether it be physical or sociological pressure. The garments are to invoke the feeling of unease, immobility, suffocation, and being trapped.

FEmenINE:
Shifting Norms in Fashion
Spring 2020: Principles of Forecasting
Fashion is starting to move away from traditional views on what menswear fashion is supposed to look like. The days of supreme masculinity are starting to dwindle. Men are now expressing their traditionally feminine views and ideals. This is due large in part with the self-expression and acceptance in the LGBTQ+ communities.

Janet Rees Inspired
Evening Wear
Spring 2019: Apparel Production II
For this project, we were to be inspired by a piece from our department's Janet Rees Collection. I was inspired by the blush pink/beige colored satin and chiffon dress. What drew me to this dress was the contrast between the front and the back, and the curved seam lines. Using these details, I created this emerald green brocade cocktail dress with detachable satin skirt.
